It was 3 years ago already, that we started the Rose Friedman Society which now has over 75 members. The Rose Friedman Society (RFS) was the seed from which sprouted the idea to launch The Policy Circle and start circles all over the country. There are now 115 Policy Circles in 24 states. The goal is to share the RFS model, and empower women to create a space to pause, to learn, and to become comfortable discussing public policy that in the end impacts people and entrepreneurship.
The high-octane women that I have met here and all over the country who want to start a policy circle are welcoming, rational, curious, analytical. They see the Policy Circle as is a place where they can hone in their leadership skills by being comfortable discussing ideas, by connecting and developing relationships to become influencers. Policy Circle women hear and answer the call to serve as engaged citizens on the issues that they feel are important to them.
In starting circles everywhere, I also discovered that the ideal size of a circle is 12 – it is easier to host, it is easier to find a focus, it’s a team. So I would like to propose that RFS sprouts into multiple circles of 12 to 20 members. Have a look at our list of members and see who you would like to form a circle with, or bring together new women to start a new circle of 12 women, as Molly and Anne have done. Start with just 3 or 5 women.
New RFS Circle leaders will be part of a RFS Roundtable that I would host, and there will be multiple occasions for all RFS circles to meet up all together.
Send me an email to talk about starting an RFS circle, and click on Set-Up My Circle, remember to start the name of your circle with RFS. Let’s have 5 RFS Circles!
