The Policy Circle is pleased to announce that Dr. Hadiyah-Nicole Green, Founder of the Ora Lee Smith Cancer Research Foundation, has joined the principal speakers list at the The Policy Circle’s 4th Annual Leadership Summit, taking place in Chicago on November 15th, 2019.

Dr. Green is a multi-disciplinary physicist with expertise in the intersection of nanotechnology, immunotherapy, and precision medicine. Specializing in targeted cancer therapeutics which use laser-activated nanoparticles and immunotherapies, she is developing biomarker-specific platforms to target, image, and treat malignant tumors. These targeted cancer therapies, will use cutting-edge technologies to change the way cancer is treated.  Her three goals? Make cancer treatment accessible, affordable, and effective. Karen Wells will interview Dr. Green along with Susan G. Komen Founder Ambassador Nancy Brinker discussing the latest in healthcare technologies, investments and patient care, and how to start a movement

Dr. Green founded the Ora Lee Smith Cancer Research Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in memory of her late aunt who raised her. The U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) recently awarded Dr. Green a $1.1 million grant for the ongoing research of her 4-in-1 system for early detection, imaging, targeting, and selective treatment of head and neck cancers.

Her life’s passion, and Dr. Green’s ultimate goal, is to translate this research from ideas in the labratory to real life treatments for a variety of cancer models, including those in head and neck, breast, colorectal, brain, lung, ovarian, cervical, pancreatic, anal, skin, and prostate cancers. In all, this more than $200 million endeavor could lead to saving some of the 8.8 million people who die each year from cancer worldwide.

Dr. Green, one of the first African American women to earn a Ph.D. in physics, holds the distinction of being only the second African American woman and the fourth African American to receive a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).

The Policy Circle is proud to welcome Dr. Green to the mainstage alongside several other impressive minds on cybersecurity, healthcare, policy, innovation, and so much more. Be sure to check out the full list of speakers and their impressive backgrounds.
