Happy Friday Circle Leaders!
Circles are popping up everywhere! Seriously, since the summit the recommendations have been coming in droves. And women are saying things like, “this is a God-send, and I was just talking to a friend about doing something like this but we didn’t know where to start!”
What a joy to hear those words of affirmation! And all of you women need to be affirmed in you journey of education and taking on this leadership role to make it happen. (I’d toast all of you now if I had an ice sculpture luge and it wasn’t 8:30 AM)
So here, here!
And I can’t help but share the inspiring, unique and fun things I have heard recently:
Tammy Olivas, Circle Leader for El Circulo, WI.
Her Circle has decided to mentor young Hispanic girls through high school by hosting mini-meetings. How great to teach these children to understand the free-market. Just imagine how far they can rise with this knowledge. Tammy is also donating her time and dance skills as an Ambassador for the Cristo Rey High School in her community who’s mission statement is: “We change the future by investing in the present and our youth are our future.” You can check out the event here:

And don’t miss this Facebook post of Tammy!
Mindy Ruckman, Circle Leader for Mindy’s Springfield Circle, IL.
Tag-team Circles: Mindy and I (Judi’s Circle of Change) both have Springfield Circles. She spun off of my group to a younger demographic than mine! I admitted to her at my last meeting that I would like to have a co-leader. So we are kicking around the idea of tag-teaming meetings to help grow both Circles
Lorna McMahon, McLean Policy Circle, VA
Lorna is hosting her first meeting Oct. 16! Woot, Woot! Her mother is co-hosting with her and they are already kicking around the idea of spinning off her mom’s group into a Sunday Brunch Club.
And for a little bit of guidance:
So, the whole Judge Kavanaugh thing, that’s something else isn’t it?
If you are hosting a meeting soon you might be wondering how this should be addressed. The Policy Circle’s guiding principle is to agree to not discuss social issues. Oddly enough, this issue blurs the line between a social issue and a process issue. Our recommendation is to error the side of caution: at the end of the day the relationships we form will have more of a lasting impact on your life than this one issue.
We recommend at the start of your meeting to say, something like, “Let’s leave the Judge Kavanuagh hearing out of our conversation since it blurs the lines between social and policy issues. Our Circle can accomplish more by focusing on the brief at hand.”
If the conversation goes in that direction it is easy to say, “Hey, we promised!” (In a joyful tone)
You are all amazing women, thank you!
Keep the conversations going ladies because the movement is catching on!
