The Policy Circle Facilitates Dialogue at Local Summit

The Policy Circle recently joined Connecticut state and local leaders for the Yankee Institute’s “Keep it Local Summit.”  The summit focused on the importance of local government and many discussions about public policies impacting cities and towns across the state.

The Yankee Institute develops and advances free-market, limited-government solutions in Connecticut and is one of the oldest state-based think tanks in the country.

In an effort to increase productive civic dialogue, The Policy Circle was invited to facilitate two panel discussions about Connecticut cities featuring prominent lawmakers and experts including Mayor Luke Bronin (D-Hartford) and Mayor David Martin (D-Stamford).

These unique discussions brought together the community and policy makers who shared different perspectives, opinions and views about policies impacting their lives.

Summit attendees included concerned citizens, activists and elected officials who heard from policy experts, mayors, first selectmen and state lawmakers about the issues that affect towns and cities across Connecticut and how to make a change at both the state and local level.

This is the type of dialogue that informs citizens about public officials’ stances on policy initiatives and gives their constituents the opportunity to ask questions  and have a real conversation.
